Project Title: Skills Acquisition and Economic Empowerment for IDP Camp Residents
Location: Ogoja LGA, Cross River State Calabar
Date: 8th to 10th March, 2024
OBJECTIVE:
To equip 25 internally displaced persons (IDPs) with vocational skills in cosmetology, pastry-making, and cake decoration, enhancing their economic resilience and self-sufficiency.
Project Overview:
As part of our organization’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, we implemented an empowerment initiative targeting IDPs at Ogoja LGA. The project aimed to provide training and capacity-building opportunities in three key areas:
1. Cosmetology
2. Pastry-making (baking and decoration)
3. Cake decoration (design and finishing)
Training Methodology:
– Expert trainers facilitated intensive workshops, covering theoretical and practical aspects.
– Hands-on training sessions enabled participants to develop skills and confidence.
– Materials and equipment were provided to support the learning process.
Impact:
The empowerment initiative has:
– Enhanced the livelihoods of 25 IDPs, equipping them with marketable skills.
– Fostered economic independence and self-reliance.
– Promoted confidence and self-esteem among participants.
– Created opportunities for entrepreneurship and income generation.
